The Progress on CBD Research

The tremendous attention the cannabis plant has received globally recently is not actually much of a revelation. Use of the plant actually dates back many thousands of years and has steadily been cultivated over the years. Many organizations are striving to spread awareness about the various compounds that are contained within hemp and all of their potential.

Marijuana, or cannabis, comes from the plant Cannabis sativa. Marijuana contains approximately 100 different compounds called cannabinoids. The main cannabinoid, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), causes the "high" -- variably described as happiness, amusement or contentment -- that comes with marijuana. THC may help nausea, pain or muscle spasms, but it also can affect mood, behavior, and thinking. The second most common cannabinoid, cannabidiol (CBD), doesn't cause mind-altering effects...

We still have a ways to go on CBD research to understand CBD's benefits completely.

CBD seems to promote the production of our naturally occurring endocannabinoids when introduced to our body. Our endocannabinoids bind to CB (cannabinoid) receptors in our body via the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a biological system that resides in each of us and regulates everything from appetite and mood to pain and the immune response. Because of this binding, there may be an ability to protect brain cells through antioxidation and the inflammatory mechanisms it may produce. Some preclinical studies meant to discover if the theories about CBD for stress, CBD for pain and whether CBD can help with Parkinson’s Disease are accurate, are being funded by businesses such as the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

With proper mindfulness to dosing and the method in which you choose to use CBD all play a factor in the results you may experience. The variety of CBD products range from salves, topicals, lotions, dermal patches, CBD edibles, tinctures, isolates, concentrates and pure hemp flower. All of these assorted options target diverse areas in our body that may need attention. Now keep in mind that while the symptoms described seem common enough, the right CBD dosage would vary from person to person.

There are several factors that limit the capability to perform the type of in-depth research on cannabinoids that regulators and doctors are looking for to uncover the truth about the potential benefits of hemp oil for the health industry. Fortunately, CBD regulations and the circumstances surrounding the cannabinoid abundantly found in the cannabis plant are starting to see more interest from the public and medical sector.

From one decade to another, our society has worked towards identifying the underlying issues that present itself in various health conditions and have mustered up the courage to further research for something like CBD and it’s purported benefits. With continued research of the cannabis plant, I believe that we will discover the tangible evidence of its efficacy and mechanism in the human body.
