How CBD Helped My Mother With Fibromyalgia
The more I read about CBD oil and its potential uses, the more intrigued I become with the vast potential of CBD and its ability to help women all over. For the longest time my mother has suffered from fibromyalgia and she was incredibly unhappy with the prescription medications her doctor has been prescribing her. She tried changing her diet and adding exercise, and while those things did help, she still had some pretty bad flare ups. So, now what?
My mother, being one the most conservative straight laced women you could meet, was going to be tough to convince trying CBD gummies or 500mg CBD oil could help with her fibromyalgia. I love my mother but to give you an idea of what we’re dealing with here, she gets nervous about drinking the occasional espresso because she worries about caffeine. Selling her on the idea of CBD edibles was no easy task. She had a ton of questions like; How does CBD make you feel? What are the side effects of CBD gummies? Will I fail a drug test if I take CBD? To answer these questions, I found a great source at FibroWomen.com for her.
“The answer, according to Dr. Ethan Russo, medical director of PHYTECS, is that those who have fibromyalgia suffer from Clinical Endocannabinoid Deficiency (CED). When you replenish the depleted endocannabinoid system with the necessary cannabinoids, the symptoms disappear. Think of it in similar terms of someone with a Vitamin B deficiency feeling much better after taking supplements. For those who have studied the endocannabinoid system (ECS), you will know that its main function is to help the body maintain homeostasis. When the body is in homeostasis, it is free from disease.”
How I explained it to my mother is how I’ve explained CBD to anyone who has read one of my blog posts in the past. I couldn’t tell her how CBD was going to make her feel specifically, but I did tell her that typically people feel more relaxed and CBD helps them sleep better. I also told her about CBD for pain, like the kind of pain she suffers from fibromyalgia, CBD oil helps manage and reduce inflammation which is often the cause of chronic pain. I also let her know that as long as she was using CBD gummies from a company that uses third party lab testing like Sugar and Kush, there should be no THC to trip her up if for some reason she was drug tested.
She was weary, but she eventually put her faith in what I was telling her and she tried both the Sugar and Kush CBD oil and 500mg CBD gummies. It didn’t help her immediately, but after a few weeks she noticed a difference with her symptoms. She had fewer flare ups, and the flare ups were less painful. While it did not cure my mom, using quality pure CBD oil and CBD products helped make her painful condition much more manageable. For both my mother and myself, we view that as a win.
