CBD in the NFL is already being embraced by many retired players, and it looks like it will inevitably become part of active NFL players’ lives once the organization relaxes some of its policies. As studies continue to expand and a better understanding of CBD’s benefits is gained, professional medical studies will hopefully back the wide array of testimonials supporting CBD products.
Retired Seattle Seahawk, Lofa Tatupu, is well loved and inspiring to many fans. He is now speaking openly about how CBD is helping him. After many concussions and injuries, Lofa retired early and gained a lot of weight. Concerns that the long lasting impacts of his career would mirror his father’s, Mosi Tatupu, is a concern for Lofa.
Mosi Tatupu was a much loved member of the New England Patriots through the 80’s and went on to retire and live out the rest of his years in Massachusetts. He unexpectedly died from a heart attack and autopsies discovered he suffered from advanced Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Lofa is concerned that like his father, he could also be suffering from CTE.
Tatupu retired from football in 2012 after suffering from at least 15 concussions by his count and 10 surgeries. He gained 50 pounds and said any motivation was hard to come by.
Tatupu's father, Mosi Tatupu, a former Pro Bowl fullback with the New England Patriots, died in 2010 at the age of 54. He was later found to have suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a disease that has been linked to football-related head trauma.
Many of these NFL players have a lot to look forward to after retirement. With some real money in their pockets and tremendous popularity, their post-career alternatives seem limitless. But, debilitating conditions like CTE and chronic injuries can wear on them. If pure CBD has any potential to help them live more fulfilling lives, then why wouldn’t they embrace it?
Other retired players like Rob Gronkowski, Christian Okoye and many others are endorsing CBD. Whether it’s a CBD tincture or some other CBD product, what is important is that everyone does their due diligence in looking for CBD lab reports and labels.
